A bulk olive oil supplier or re-seller cannot guarantee quality, production conditions, or influence their social and ecological impact unless they control the process at the source.
Bulk by CHO has full control of the olive oil production process, from our trees to your warehouse: farming, milling, testing, refining, packaging, international distribution, and logistics.
We thrive to reduce our carbon footprint by recycling, innovating in our processes, and packaging. We invest in the social well-being of our farmers and employees by engaging with our community, sponsoring civil associations, controlling our work environment, and by offering continuous training and support education.
Every olive harvested by CHO is crushed within hours to guarantee freshness and quality.
Every lot of olive oil produced in CHO's mills undergoes 2-5 series of tests for authenticity and quality, by CHO's own IOC accredited laboratory, accredited tasting panel, and third-party certifiers.
Certifications
We believe in partnering with the best certifying and auditing organizations in the world. A third party auditor guarantees an impartial and different approach to
our quality management teams and systems.
We thank all of our partner certifiers and auditors for giving
CHO the best quality control system in the olive oil industry.
Bulk by CHO's certifications include:
-
ISO 22000
ISO 22000 is a food safety management system that reviews processes and procedures. It requires that the manufacturer implement the prerequisite programs and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point).
-
HACCP
HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product (olive oil).
-
ISO 9001
ISO 9001 specifies requirements for a quality management system. CHO uses the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
-
ISO 14001
ISO 14001 specifies requirements for an environmental management system. CHO uses this standard to improve our environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and waste reduction.
-
IFS
The IFS focus is on food safety and the quality of processes and products. IFS Food applies when products are produced or when there is a hazard for product contamination during primary packing. The standard is important for all food manufacturers, especially for those producing private labels, as it contains many requirements related to the compliance with customer specifications.
-
BRC
The BRC focuses on the importance of management commitment, HACCP based food safety programs and quality management systems. The audit ensures consistency of the manufacturing processes and developing systems to reduce exposure to food fraud.
-
Non-GMO
The Non-GMO Project Verified seal gives shoppers the assurance that a product has completed a comprehensive third-party verification for compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standard. Our olive trees have not been genetically modified using recombinant DNA methods, gene modification or transgenic technology. Some of our trees are hundreds of years old.
-
STAR-K
STAR-K Kosher Certification is a guarantee that food products meet all kosher requirements executing the Laws of Kashrus.
-
USDA organic
These standards assure consumers that products with the USDA organic seal meet consistent, uniform standards. Organic is a labeling term for food products that have been produced using cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that support the cycling of on-farm resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity in accordance with the USDA organic regulations. This means that organic operations must maintain or enhance soil and water quality. Synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge and irradiation may not be used. Our certification is in compliance with the terms of the US-Canada Organic Equivalency Arrangement.
-
Brazilian organic
These standards assure consumers that products with the Brazilian organic seal meet consistent, uniform standards. Organic is a labeling term for food products that have been produced using cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that support the cycling of on-farm resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity in accordance with the Brazilian organic regulations. This means that organic operations must maintain or enhance soil and water quality. Synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge and irradiation may not be used.
Quality Assurance
Our outstanding team of engineers and technicians are experts in the production of olive oil. In addition to a partnership with the International Olive Oil Council, our laboratory is also ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 certified. We run a wide range of tests to fulfill the highest industry needs and meet the international standards. A Certificate of Analysis is included with each shipment certifying the lot of the olive oil produced meets the product specification.
CHO has the only non-governmental IOC-accredited sensory panel south of the Mediterranean and one of very few in the world. Our team of 8 certified olive oil tasters run organoleptic assessments to classify, fully appreciate and recognize each olive oil’s characteristics. Positive attributes reviewed are "fruity", "bitter" and "pungent" using a numerical rating approved by the IOC.
